Poets' Club at Arts Center of Saint Peter Nearing Feature Reading

SAINT PETER, MINN. – The Poets’ Club of Aktion Club Theatre will present a poetry
reading and chapbook release showcasing original work by writers with developmental
and intellectual disabilities on Thursday, April 7, 6-7 p.m. at The Arts Center of Saint
Peter.

Featured poems will focus on the theme of “community.” The Poets’ Club is a subgroup of
Aktion Club Theater, a South Central Minnesota community social justice theater group
for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities,
“It’s good for National Poetry Month and for the Poets’ Club,” said participating poet Nate
Clark. “I’m excited that each poet will get their own book from the reading.”

The event and the chapbook are part of an ongoing partnership between Aktion Club
Theatre and Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Good Thunder Reading Series, which
has hosted several writing and reading workshops over the past year for Aktion Club
members. The chapbook is funded by a Margaret Mett mini-grant administered by the
Good Thunder Reading Series.

The event is made possible in part by support from the State Arts and Cultural Heritage
Fund, as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature to KMSU Radio.
