Qiu Ju indie world film

Please note this film will only be shown at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 28 at the Owatonna Public Library.

The Story of Qiu Ju is a Chinese drama about a pregnant peasant woman. When her husband is kicked and beaten without provocation by the arrogant village leader, Qiu Ju sets out on a journey for an apology.

Each authority she meets with hands her off to the next. Undeterred, she takes her case to the national government, where she becomes mummified in bureaucratic red tape.

Viewers will sympathize with strong-willed Qiu Ju’s search for justice.

Run time: 100 min. Presented in Mandarin with English subtitles.

The third floor of the Gainey Room has a widescreen Blu-ray projector, large screen, surround sound system, and upholstered seating. The meeting room also has hearing assisted looping technology, which enhances the audio for patrons who use hearing devices with telecoil or T-coil.
