Minnesota Tech Company Wins $50K Minnesota Cup Prize for Mac-to-iOS Graphic Tablet App

A Minneapolis, Minnesota company has won the $50,000 grand prize for developing software that allows iPad users to connect to computers to use the mobile device as a drawing and graphics arts tablet. This allows them to utilize the tablet they already have without having to purchase a more expensive specialty tablet, such as the popular industry standard Wacom devices currently available in the market and used by many designers and digital artists.


MN Rhymesayers Artist Prof Makes Rolling Stone's Sept 2015 10 Artists List

South Minneapolis rapper told Sway, an entertainment and music journalist (as well as a hip hop radio icon), that his fan base was mostly regional and even talked about being booed off stage. Well, with a recent label move to Rhymesayers in association with his Stophouse Music Group, Prof has been making some big noise, even outside Minnesota. Sway did a lot of work promoting and exploring Prof's talent and appeal to young people at the 2015 Soundset festival in the Twin Cities.


MN Fats Rapper Releases Videos with Snoop Lion and Wocka Flocka

MN Fats, a Minnesota hip hop artist with a street hustle sound and larger than life frame, recently released a couple new music videos. One of those videos, for his song "Can I Freak", has had around 15,000 views on YouTube so far. The song features Waka Flocka, a successful southern hip hop artist.


Minnesota's Ant from Atmosphere Joins LA Weekly Top Producers List

Ant,the producer and DJ from Minneapolis, joins LA Weekly's list of 20 best hip hop producers. LA Weekly's list includes those the magazine believes have been the most influential in producing quality music, as well as commercially successful music. Ant, noted for producing the Minneapolis sound for more than 20 years, was #20 on the list.


Entrepreneurship Club Announces Startup Weekend Cancelled, Rescheduled

The Minnesota State University, Mankato (MNSU) student group, Entrepreneurship Club has announced the cancellation of the Mankato Startup Weekend, Rescheduled to April 1-3, 2016. Startup Weekend is a Google-supported event for entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs meet up for 54 hours to do "amazing things." They pitch, build something and then launch it. Startup Weekend events typically follow a specific model. Entrepreneurs, designers, developers, tinkerers, whatever get together and pitch ideas, then receive feedback from their peers. Literally anyone can come to do this.


Bad Weather Brewing Announces a Grand Opening in St. Paul for Taproom and Brewery

Bad Weather Brewing announced the grand opening of their new taproom and brewery location in St. Paul this week, according to MN Beer Activists. The location is in the Little Bohemia neighborhood at 414 7th St. W. Close to the Xcel Center, the place measures around 1200 sq. ft.

Good Thunder Reading Series to Host Writers Lynda Barry, Michael Torres

Minnesota State University, Mankato will host Lynda Barry and Michael Torres on Thursday, Oct. 8 for the Nadine B. Andreas Visiting Writer Residency as part of the Good Thunder Reading Series.

On Oct. 8, Barry will lead a writing workshop from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Centennial Student Union, Room 245. She’ll present a “Talk on Craft” at 3 p.m. in Centennial Student Union’s Ostrander Auditorium. She and Torres will read from their work at 7:30 p.m. in Centennial Student Union, Room 245.

Is Minnesota's legislation on medical marijuana a failure or is it just growing pains? Pun intended.

Minnesota's medical marijuana law is one of the most strict in the United States and you must have one of nine different conditions to even qualify. Insurance does not cover the cost either. The Associated Press recently interviewed a couple different patients who gave up on the process and went back to buying pot illegally in the black market because it is cheaper.
