Historic Merely Players Community Theater is putting out a call for “Letters to Santa” to appear on-stage for their next production, Miracle on 34th Street. The theater group is following up it’s the success of its 2015-16 Season opener, Junie B. Jones, The Musical, with this holiday classic to warm the heart and give a reason to believe. Rural Route Dance Ensemble was organized in 2014 by Molly Mayer and is formed around the idea of representing the rural experience through dance and other art mediums. Our goal is to create portable mixed-media pieces that are accessible and entertaining to all audiences. The main cast is comprised of five women of various ages and dance backgrounds, all hailing from the St. Peter-Mankato and surrounding areas, who enjoy dancing, choreographing and performing primarily as a hobby.

Now in its 34th year, New Ulm’s Oktoberfest is modeled after one of the world’s largest celebrations held for several centuries in Munich, Germany, and features music, beer, and German heritage. New Ulm’s version takes place during the first two weekends in October with festivities in four locations: historic downtown, Morgan Creek Vineyards, Schell’s Brewery, and the Best Western Plus.

New Ulm to host Car Hop & Shop Event

The New Ulm Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Car Hop & Shop Cruise-In on Thursday, September 10th, from 5:00-8:00pm. This informal Classic Car and Motorcycle Show will be will be held in historic downtown New Ulm. Parking will be along both sides of Minnesota St. from 1st South St. to 3rd North St. All Classic makes and models of cars and motorcycles are welcome. Spectators can view the cars, shop the unique stores, and grab a bite to eat at one of the many downtown restaurants and bars. This event will be held rain or shine.


CityArt Announces Call for Artists 2016 CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour Now Accepting Submissions

MANKATO, Minn. (July 29, 2015) — The CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour is now accepting sculpture submissions for the 2016 tour. The entry deadline for submission is November 1, 2015. The 2016 sculpture tour is planned to include thirty sculptures in the core blocks of Mankato and North Mankato, MN. The sculptures are displayed for about one year (May 21, 2016 to April, 2017). Artists accepted into the program receive a $500 stipend for the first sculpture and $250 for the second sculpture by the same artist.
